The top graduating carpenter and millwright apprentices in the State competed in a two-day contest  at the Hyatt Regency in Dearborn, Michigan. The contest was held in conjunction with The Michigan Apprenticeship Steering Committee (MASCI) conference October 22 & 23.  The competition included both written testing and hands-on competition. 22 contestants were selected from the 2001 graduating class from the eight union carpenter and millwright apprenticeship schools in the state, with a  combined enrollment of over 1,700 carpenter and millwright apprentices.
